Switch Gear
The switch gear or the ‘Switchyard’ is the complex control panel that manages the distribution of power from a power station to the transmission system, to sub-stations, and beyond.
Often considered to be the heart of a power station, the Switchyard junction also plays a major role in security and safety. Made up of a complex network of switches, transformers, isolators, wave traps, power circuits, and breakers, the Switchyard can also protect the power station from outside interference such as lightning strikes on pylons or power surges.
